- Summary
- Arzimanoglou (head, Pediatric Epilepsy Unit, University Hospital Robert Debre, France) discusses general notions about seizure disorders, and looks at problems related to classification of epileptic seizures and epilepsies. He describes the major types of epileptic seizures and the epilepsy syndromes in which particular seizures are the major manifestation, delineating the associated symptoms for each type of seizure and assessing the validity of these syndromes for prognosis and treatment. He specifically deals with epileptic manifestations for which the age of occurrence or the precipitating factors are more informative than the clinical characteristics. Final chapters deal with general aspects of diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. Annotation : 2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
