Summary
The case examines how a new leader adopted a range of technological and organisational strategies to support service innovation for emergency care. There were a number of management change issues associated with the process of innovation facilitated by the implementation of computerised pre-hospital emergency care systems, global positioning system support on ambulance units, and the development of triage protocols. Furthermore, the case highlights the role and use of information technologies to mediate decision-making and facilitate distributed coordination of expertise in the effective handling of emergency incidents
