Summary
Josephine Baker was an American-born French dancer and singer, made world-famous for her performances at venues such as the Folies Bergères in Paris in the 1920s and 1930s. During WWII, she helped the French Resistance as a spy for the Allies and was awarded a Croix de Guerre military medal for her service after the war. As a world-reknowned performer, Baker was allowed to travel fairly freely to neutral countries and smuggled secret information written on her sheet music in invisible ink back to the Resistance
