- Summary expansion
- The collection contains the logbooks of the Euterpe (later renamed Star of India) for 1884-1923, which shed light on voyage times and conditions from Great Britain to New Zealand. Later logs chart the movement of Chinese and Mexican labourers from San Francisco to canneries in Alaska. The collection also includes 19th century photographs of the Euterpe in various ports, and recent, professionally shot, photographs of the Star of India, now maintained by the Maritime Museum of San Diego
