- "In recent years and in many parts of the world there has been a transformation in the management of the public sector. The rigid, bureaucratic, form of public administration that dominated for most of the twentieth century has been replaced by a flexible, market-based, form of public management. This 'new managerialism' represents not just a change in organization or management style but a different role for government in society.
