- Summary
- "Was a black African the savior of Jerusalem centuries before Christ, before Mohammed, before the Hebrews even believed in one God? For hundreds of years scholars thought so. When European colonialism began to exploit Africa, their views changed. This is an account of that "misplaced" history. In the eighth century B.C., Jerusalem teetered on the brink of annihilation as Assyrian forces lay siege to the city to complete their decimation of Israel. Only the pharaoh of Egypt's 25th Dynasty responded to its plea for help. He dispatched an army of Kushites, black Africans like himself, to challenge the invaders and save the Hebrew capital. His archers, infantrymen, cavalry and charioteers were descendants of the oldest black civilizations of the Nubian sub-Sahara and a formidable force. Their Deliverance of Jerusalem turned history onto a direction it might not have otherwise taken. Book jacket."--BOOK JACKET
