Im Zentrum ihrer Analyse stehen die Verweise auf Ferdinand de Saussure im Diskurs der romanistischen Linguistik. Die Studie entwickelt sogleich eine diskursanalytische Methode, die geeignet ist, Verweise in wissenschaftlichen Texten auf ihr Potential hin zu untersuchen, bestimmte Akteure des Diskurses aufzuzeigen und die Beziehungen zwischen diesen Diskursakteuren darzustellen
